BREAKING: Judge orders Calif. Regulator to restore Bel Costa’s license

In another adverse court ruling for the California Department of Cannabis Control (DCC), a judge restored the license of a lab the regulator shuttered in April 2025.

In a proposed decision dated July 24, a California administrative law judge rejected the DCC's denial of an annual license to Long Beach-based BelCosta Labs. The denial had been tied to positive tests for the mold aspergillus, a common mold linked to health complications for immunocompromised people.
