Newsbrief: Va. gov, lawmakers reach deal on REC sales

After vetoing a bill to begin REC sales in January, Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) has reached a compromise with lawmakers. The deal limits the state to 350 pot shops when sales begin July 1, 2027.
The deal also sets a standard state tax rate of 6%, rising to 8% in 2029, not including taxes imposed by cities, who'll be able to add another 3.5%.
