- Canadian entrepreneur Chloe Popove asked Shopify to clarify its cannabis policy.
- The Grass Ceiling Honors will celebrate pioneering women in weed. Entries are due November 7.
State and local:
- Legalization is on the ballot in New York City’s upcoming mayoral election and gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey.
NPR, Fox5, Marijuana Moment - Trump picked Michigan cannabis entrepreneur Mark Savaya as special envoy to Iraq.
The Detroit News - High Times profiles two shops doing it right and making it work in New Jersey’s tough market.
- The proposed Massachusetts ballot initiative to reverse REC legalization is on track to make the 2026 ballot, a spokesperson said.
Marijuana Moment - The Trulieve-backed group gathering signatures to get REC legalization on Florida’s 2026 ballot sued the state alleging Gov. Ron DeSantis'(R) administration is thwarting its efforts.
Politico - Legalization has divided Hawaii’s business community.
Pacific Business News - New York regulators moved to close a business that allegedly facilitated inversion.

- San Francisco activist and supposed “gay weed mafia” member Terrance Alan, who was instrumental to California’s 1996 MED legalization, died at 73. The NY Times once wrote that Terrance Alan “worked in construction and owned strip joints, taught handicapped children and peddled low-budget gay pornographic movies, mostly starring Terrance Alan.”
