Newsbrief: House votes to delay hemp ban

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a government spending bill which includes a one month delay on the federal hemp-derived products ban. If President Trump signs the the bipartisan bill, which has already passed the Senate, hemp products will remain federally legal until December 11.

The delay would give the hemp industry and its allies an additional window to hammer out a federal regulatory framework. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) and Rand Paul (R-Ky) wrote the so-called "hemp-cliff extension."
