A U.S. Senate committee proposed pushing back the ban on hemp-derived products by 30 days. The ban is set to take effect November 12. Next the House must approve the delay in its own version of the spending bill. It needs to pass by September 30 to avert a government shutdown.

The temporary extension is “welcome news” providing “critical breathing room for hemp farmers, small businesses, retailers, manufacturers and consumers while Congress continues to work toward a long-term solution,” according to the U.S. Hemp Roundtable (USHR).
