Following Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) veto of a hemp ban, the Texas legislature is meeting in a special session to regulate the what’s reportedly a $5B intoxicating hemp industry with product sold in 7,000 stores. They’re starting on the ground floor in a state that doesn’t currently have age restrictions and flower is widely sold as THCA flower.

They’re talking labs, inspections, child-resistant packaging, potency, and little understood, but very potent cannabinoids such as THCP, which binds to the same receptors “but with far more intensity,” and HHC, said to be margarine to THC’s butter.
Some are trying to oppose hemp by supporting the state’s recently expanded MED program. Meanwhile, Abbott’s deputy Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) has revived his push for a crackdown with a new bill.
